And I am pleased enough with it to say I am a watercolor painter now.

I feel accomplished.

(But DAMN if figuring out the whole getting white without using white process is a BITCH!!!)

Anyway – voila:

I am secretly rather cheerful, believe it or not. Just don't tell.

brilliant — i am IN AWE…watercolours and i just can't seem to see eye to eye on anything other than 'blurry mess'

and it's my fave flower, even..

  5. Mynx May 30, 2011 at 3:23 pm #

Daisies make me smile, love it. You are so clever

looks like I could pick it right off of the page!

Great job! I can't paint worth shit. I can't work in color worth shit.

I only work in black, white or gray…a shrink would have a field day with that.

I like your sunshine-y side. This is happy 😉

  10. Marlene May 30, 2011 at 8:03 pm #

    Shit, that's gorgeous.

I've tried watercolors, with abysmal results. I'm jealous.

  11. Pam Tucker May 30, 2011 at 9:03 pm #

Awesome job! I know how difficult watercolors are… This is gorgeous!

  12. Cyn May 31, 2011 at 12:38 am #

    Fantastic! I love it!

  13. Heather Reese May 31, 2011 at 4:36 pm #

    Would you consider selling it?

  14. May 31, 2011 at 4:40 pm #

It's not really sale worthy. It's just in an old sketchbook. But perhaps once I get a little better at what I am doing. And thinking of going in and adding some ink detailing to this one and see what happens…

I am terribly pleased with it though. It's a good start!

It is beautiful. My mom is looking for some watercolor flower pictures to hang in her room, and she has two kids and just got divorced so she is on a major budget. She really likes the colorful ones like this. Even if it is just in a sketchbook, I would totally pay for it!

i love the sky-it looks like those gorgeous wispy clouds you get on summer days (i believe. living in ireland its bern a while since i've seen an actual blue sky! ) anyway, i think its a great watercolour.

  31. Mary Hysong June 4, 2011 at 7:42 pm #

And well pleased you should be! White objects (and black) are among the most difficult to paint in any medium and you've done very well with the daisy, I take it you havne't done WC very long? Well keep up the good work, glad to have found you through PPF!

  32. Mary Hysong June 4, 2011 at 7:43 pm #

Lovely job on the daisy. If you want a real challenge in water color try some colored glass and reflections…. Keep painting, you are very good! Happy PPF

I only started using watercolor at the first of the year. This whole concept of NOT using white (paint) to get white on the painting is so foreign. I think I am figuring it out quite nicely though.

  34. Giggles June 4, 2011 at 9:45 pm #

    Simple, and beautiful! Love it!

  35. Sacred Yoli June 5, 2011 at 2:03 am #

Indeed, an artist you are. Beautiful!

  36. Anne June 5, 2011 at 7:04 am #

Lovely! Great job doing the white without white.

  37. EVA June 5, 2011 at 9:53 am #

Wow – great job! and especially of not using white. I usually end up with a little acrylic white to help me out on a watercolour – but I didn't really know any better.

  38. Kristin Dudish June 5, 2011 at 10:59 pm #

So beautiful… I love the colors (and daisies are my favorite!)
